Armillary sphere, stellar sky, planets. "La Sphere Artificielle ou Armilaire oblique, Elevée sur l'Horizon a la Latitude de Paris". Orig. copperplate engraving, L. Ch. Desnos, Paris, 1766. Orig. old colouring. Armillary sphere on a decorative base surrounded by, among others, depictions of the sun, moon and diagrams with cosmological theories (Copernicus, de Brahe, Ptolemy, Descartes), title cartouche in the centre, above it depictions of 4 planets of the Solar System (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus), on the sides depictions of the northern and southern starry sky and the western and eastern hemispheres of the Earth. All accompanied by French explanatory text. 44:67,5 cm (17 1/4 x 26 1/2 inch.).

Printed on paper sized 51:72,5 cm. - In the upper margin on the right a small, old repaired tear (ca. 3 mm affecting the marginal line).
