Köhler's Medicinal Plants (Köhler's Medizinal-Pflanzen) is a German herbal written principally by Hermann Adolph Köhler (1834-1879, physician and chemist), and edited after his death by Gustav Pabst. It is one of the best-known handbooks of medicinal plants of the late 19th century. The atlas illustrates and explains about 400 medicinal plants on 203 high-quality chromolithographic plates (by Walther Müller and Carl Friedrich Schmidt), which are convincing both in their graphic quality and their attention to detail and reproduce all the characteristics of the respective species. For this reason, the illustrations are still often referenced today to explain plants. The accompanying texts contain detailed information on the botany and medicinal efficacy of the plants. - The plates and accompanying texts are continuously numbered with a stamp (1-203 and 1-660). - First ca. 5 leaves of text with minor brown stains, otherwise clean and very well preserved. - Plate for the last accompanying text ('Taraxacum') bound in after page 384.
