The World."Novus Planiglobii Terrestris per utrumque Polum conspectus". Orig. copper-engraving by J. Blaeu, published by G. Valk in Amsterdam, ca. 1695. Original old colouring, the decorations around the map later coloured. Map of the World in a Polar projection. With engraved title, depiction of the sun, the moon and the clouds at the top and "... At the bottom are two scenes: on the right Adam is happily seated in the Garden of Eden, and on the left a dismal post-lapserian Adam and Eve are in a wetter and rougher land". With ornamental carouche with 2 cherubs, coat-of-arms (not filled out) and Valk's adrress. 41:54 cm (16 1/4 x 21 1/4 inch.).

Shirley, The Mapping of the World, Nr. 459: "Underneath Valck's imprint the erased signature of J. Blaeu can just be discerned, indicating, that this plate was prepared in the last years of Joan Blaeu's life, in 1672-73. ... Blaeu intended this special map for the Spanish edition of the Atlas Maior which was never completed". - Oxidation of the green colour in the map, a crack in it expertly restored.
