Becher, Johann Joachim and Stahl, Georg Ernst. Chemistry, alchemy. "Chymischer Glücks-Hafen, oder Grosse Chymische Concordantz und Collection, Von funffzehn hundert Chymischen Processen ... Nebst einer neuen Vorrede, oder Bedencken Von der Gold-Macherey, Herrn Georg Ernst Stahls". Halle (Saale): Krug, 1726. Smaller 4to. Engraved frontispiece (author's portrait), titlepage, (28), 810, (28) pp. with numerous alchemical symbols in woodcut. Half-parchment binding.

Second edition of the famous collection of chemical-alchemical processes, divided into 20 parts. One of the last writings of the economist and naturalist J. J. Becher. During his lifetime his writings were little recognized, yet they were of considerable importance to the development of modern chemistry. The collection is preceded by an essay by G. E. Stahl on the production of gold. - Newer half-parchment binding using original parchment spine with title label. First ca. 10 leaves with small wormholes. Title page closely trimmed at the bottom (affecting the publisher's address). Numerous old underlinings and marginal pen notes in the text. Otherwise clean and well preserved.
