 Detailed treatise on the wonders of animal nature as well as physical phenomena, in which Schott seeks to harmonise exact scientific observations with phenomena of the fable world such as demons, witches, monstrous animal monsters, etc.. Deals, among other things, with demonology and the relationships of nature to familiar spirits, monsters, St. Elmo's fire, comets and their influences, etc. - Second edition, considerably enlarged compared to the first edition of 1662. - Lacking the half-title (or pretitle), otherwise complete with all engravings. Text slightly browned throughout, respectively with moisture stains on the upper margins of several leaves. - Gaspar Schott (German: Kaspar or Caspar Schott; Latin: Gaspar Schottus; 1608 in Königshofen - 1666 in Würzburg) was a German Jesuit and scientist, specializing in the fields of physics, mathematics and natural philosophy.
