A collection of 100 satirical sonnets. - Giovanni Battista Casti (1724 in Acquapendente, Italy - 1803, Paris) was an Italian poet, satirist, and author of comic opera librettos (among others, he wrote librettos for 3 operas by Antonio Salieri). - Attached is a portrait of the author (orig. copperplate engraving by Luigi Rados; 1773-1840). - Binding rubbed, leather in spine is missing in two places, inside well preserved.
