Nathaniel Highmore (1613 in Fordingbridge - 1685 in Sherborne) was an English surgeon and anatomist. Highmore's book on anatomy 'Corporis humani disquisitio anatomica', published in 1651 and dedicated to William Harvey, was the first to recognise Harvey's new theory of blood circulation. The work was accepted as the standard textbook for many years and brought Highmore much attention both inside and outside England.
