With ornamental title-cartouche, another ornament. cartouche with the scale of map ("Miliaria Germanica communia 15 pro Uno gradu"), a cartouche with explanatory notes ("Notarum explicatio"), great coat of arms, wind-rose, an Indian and an image of Powhatan. 37,5:48 cm (14 3/4 x 19 inch.).

Koeman II, map 9410:2.2, ed. 2:201 (1640-43 Latin); Burden 193, state 2 - The map is the first and most important derivative of John Smith's map of Virginia originally published in 1612. Oriented to the West.
