Bad Abbach (Kelheim district). "Monument Bei Abach an der Donau". Orig. chalk lithograph by Johann Jakob Dorner the Younger, 1803. 58,7:42 cm. With lithographic title under the picture.
Built in 1796 after a design by Franz Joseph Muxel (1745-1812), the depicted memorial commemorated the militarily important expansion of the route along the Danube, between the towns of Saal and Bad Abbach. - J. J. Dorner the Younger (1775-1852) learned to draw from his father J. J. Dorner the Elder (1741-1813) and first created etchings. In 1803 he drew two lithographs, "Memorial Monuments in Abbach and Saal", which are among the earliest artistic works in this new technique (lithographic incunabula). - Lower margin ca. 2,5 cm set with slight retouching of inscription, and a crack at the bottom (without the loss of the picture) expertly restored. - Very rare!
