A very decorative Doppelmayr's of the solar system and constellations in the zodiac in the context of the solar eclipse of May 12, 1706. - With depiction of the then-known planets along with the Sun in the upper left corner, a depiction of the solar eclipse of May 12, 1706 in the lower left corner, clouds and diagrams in the upper right corner, and the illustration of the lunar eclipse and three cosmological systems (Ptolemy's, Brahe's, Copernicus') in the lower right corner. - Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr (1677-1750) was a German mathematician, astronomer and cartographer.
