Decorative map of eastern & central Africa depicting the legendary Christian kingdom of Prester John. Based on an earlier map by Blaeu, there is a fair amount of detail on the eastern coast, reflecting Colonial trading interests. Below the equator there are the two large lakes where the Nile originates. The title cartouche is an original design representing the king's conversion to Christianity.
