The second edition of Careri's travelogue of India. - Giovanni Francesco Gemelli Careri was a seventeenth-century Italian adventurer and traveler. His travels, undertaken for pleasure rather than profit, may have inspired Verne for his novel Around the World in Eighty Days. - The engravings show various kinds of fruit trees and their fruit (fig, pineapple, mango, papaya, etc.), two of them depict the aboriginal inhabitans of India. - Original paper binding profrssionally restored.
