First state of the plate, without the number in the lower right corner. - A rare birds-eye-view of Istanbul. - Giovanni Francesco Camocio (1501-1575) was active as map publisher in Venice between 1558 and 1575. He was one of the most important mapmakers of the La Freri-school.
