Zacharakis: A catalogue of printed maps of Greece 1477-1800, 2nd edition, 1992; map nr. 515. - First state of the plate, without the number in the lower right corner. - A rare map of Samos, a Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea, south of Chios, north of Patmos and the Dodecanese, and off the coast of Asia Minor. Oriented to the Northwest. - Giovanni Francesco Camocio (1501-1575) was active as map publisher in Venice between 1558 and 1575. He was one of the most important mapmakers of the Lafreri School.
