H. van Linschoten's maps taken from his account of the three expeditions undertaken by Willem Barents in 1594, 1595 and 1596, in an attempt to discover a north-east passage to China. This plate comes from the first (and only) German edition of the tenth part of T. De Bry's classic collection of Kleine Reisen (German edition of Petit Voyages). Published in Frankfurt am Main by M. Becker's Heirs, 1613. Two maps printed from one plate. With 2 ornamental cartouches, 2 wind-roses and many ships and figures. 20:18,5 cm (8 x 7 1/4 inch.).

Two views of Kildin, a small Russian island in the Barents Sea. "Delineatio vera Insula Kilduynae ..." at the top and "Vera genuina ... demonstratio et conditio stationis marianae ... Insulae Kilduyn ..." under it.
