Aegidius (II) Sadeler (after 1570, Antwerp - 1625/29 Prague), also spelled Egidius or Gillis, came from the prominent Sadeler family, Antwerp engravers and art dealers. He came to Prague in 1597 and became the most important engraver of the Rudolphine court. In September of the same year, Rudolf II appointed him Imperial Engraver, a position he continued to hold during the reigns of Emperor Matthias and his successor Ferdinand II.
