Jean Baptiste Joseph Breton de la Martinière (1777–1852) was a prominent French author, translator, traveler, and pioneer of court stenography. He was best known as a prolific writer of travelogues and ethnographic works that introduced the European public to the culture, customs, and art of parts of the world that were less well-known at the time.
