Maxim Gorky (Максим Горький, by his own name Alexei Maximovich Peshkov; 1868 in Nizhny Novgorod - 1936 in Gorki-10, Moscow Oblast), was a Russian and Soviet writer and proponent of socialism. He was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
