Václav Špála (1885 in Žlunice, Bohemia - 1946 in Prague) was a Czech academic painter, graphic artist and illustrator. He is one of the most sought-after Czech artists of modern art among collectors. His early works were based on Expressionism and Fauvism, later he was influenced by Cubism, from which he departed after 1923, when he began to paint especially landscapes, still lifes and bouquets with a predominance of one colour tone.
